Activities on the property – horse riding and walking

Most who come to stay here simply relax in the environment of these special cabins and take in the awe-inspiring views. However, some other options you might like to take include:

HORSE RIDING/ DRIVE YOUR OWN SULKY:

This is a cost in addition to your accommodation tariff.

Centennial Glen Stables (neighbouring property – 2.5kms: approximately 10 mins drive) can cater for all of your horse needs. Horse riding for beginners to experienced riders. Mountain trails, open paddock, lead horses for children & beginners. Safety helmets provided.  A unique experience is the Drive Your Own Sulky option!

They now offer an “All Day Experience” which includes catching, grooming, saddling and other skills. Great for horse mad kids!

All these activities are by appointment only. Bookings are essential.

EXPLORER WALKS:

Please remember the old farm rule: Leave a gate as you find it!
(Closed gates to be re-closed…open gates to be left open)
Please note that these horses can be patted but NOT ridden and that the cattle are NOT “pattable”!
Please do not feed anything to the cattle or horses.

ALONG A COUNTRY ROAD

Depart from the Shearing Shed and Cabin gate and walk uphill along the road. Stop at the top of the hill (gate) and admire the 360-degree views: EAST to the Blue Mountains escarpments and WEST to distant blue hills.

If you wish, continue through the gates and down the hill along the road. You may walk along the road until you reach the next cattle grid and the gate. This is the end of our property.

On your return walk, enjoy the fresh air and ever-changing views of the cliffs and mountains. A walk in the early morning and then again in the late afternoon will reveal very different colours and attributes of the escarpment.

WOMBAT HOLES AND CREEK WALK

This is a cross paddock walk… driving in paddocks is definitely NOT permitted.
Proceed as for “Country Road” walk… go along the road and up the hill.

Go through the gate at the top and then through the double gates on your right. Continue left along the fence line (north) until you reach the gate on the far side of paddock (metal, near a power pole).

You are now entering the Creek Paddock. Wander along and then follow the mown pathway down to the creek and tree-line. As you wander along the creek using the mown pathway, you will observe many wombat holes (especially in the sides of the creek bank). A walk early in the morning or in the late afternoon means you may also encounter wallabies and kangaroos. Wombats usually only come out when it’s quite dark (8 or 9 pm).

Continue following creek to the right and this will bring you through two gates (2nd one is beside stone wall at a couple of sheds) and back towards the cabins.

A WALK AMONG THE TREES

Depart from the shearing shed BUT follow the road to the right. (Back the same way you drove in on arrival.)

Continue to the house and cattle grid with red wagon wheels, then follow the road back up to the 2nd cattle grid (stone wall).

Follow the track/road to the right until you come to a metal gate on the right near the road with the sign: Alex Flat: Please close gate.

Walk along the road to the end gate and to the white tape on your right. It is electric tape, so duck under it or use the plastic handle to unhook/rehook.
